The Opportunity
A large national retailer with over 1500 stores domestically preferred to work with an outsourcing company to handle the distribution of a handful of highly intensive SKUs in the cosemetics category. This retailer wanted their stores to initiate their own weekly store level orders, and to be able to order down to the individual piece. Finally, this needed to be managed in a cost-effective way in order to maintain their profit requirements
The Solution
Distribution Alternatives implemented a “Pick to-Light” system so that dozens of order fillers could be working at the same time to quickly and accurately fill 1500 orders in a few days. All the orders are picked and labeled by store, but then are shipped to the retailer’s DCs. Once the orders are received at each DC, they in turn are then routed for the individual retail store. The process has saved the retailer thousands of dollars in shipping and handling costs.

- According to this retailer’s Vendor Report Card, we maintain a 99.8% fill rate.
