HISTORY
Scholls, Inc. was founded in 1935 by Lorin J. Scholl as a local wholesaler of cosmetics, school and office supplies, and health and beauty aid products. Through years of consistent leadership and success, Scholls strategically built its wholesale business to exceed sales of $80,000,000 annually. A strong commitment to the distribution business and long-term relationships with its customers prepared the company to offer more than 12,000 products to mass, drug, grocery, convenience, specialty, and department stores nationwide. These established relationships enabled Scholls to keep pace as retailers expanded their presence regionally and nationally.
As distribution requirements changed through the years, Scholls responded to meet the needs of both retailers and manufacturers. In 1984, the company opened the doors to its first facility on the west coast to support the expansion efforts of Target Corporation. At the same time, two additional companies were formed; Distribution Systems and Services Corp (DSS) — offering third party warehousing, distribution and customer service and Product Replenishment Systems (PRS) — offering customized in store merchandising and replenishment services.
Today, the three companies have evolved into one company known as Distribution Alternatives, Inc. offering third-party warehousing, distribution and fulfillment services to manufacturers, marketers and retailers. |
