Thomas (Tim) E. Scholl, Owner and CEO

Distribution Alternatives is a “S” corporation that does business as Distribution Systems and Services (“DSS”) and Scholl’s . Since 1963, Mr. Scholl has provided various leadership roles throughout his employment. He was Vice President of Operations during the 1970’s and 1980’s when the company was an $80 million wholesale company. During the 1990’s, as President of the company, he was instrumental in the development of a third-party distribution model that was incorporated and is still executed to this day. Having studied systems development and computer programming at the University of Minnesota and IBM, Mr. Scholl offers his company a unique combination of material handling and data processing experience.

David H. Smith, Vice President – Sales and Marketing

Dave joined DSS in 1970 as a sales representative after completing two years as a management trainee at Zayre Corporation. He has had various responsibilities in his 35 years with DSS and was promoted to Vice President in 1988. He has served on the Board of Directors of several trade associations, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for SHOPA and the SHOPA Foundation for Educational Excellence. Dave is a 1968 graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.

Leonard J. Thurmes, CFO

Len joined DSS in 1985 as Inventory Control Manager. After two years Len assumed the role of IT Manager where he was responsible for the design and development of DSS’s wholesale purchasing and Warehouse Management System (WMS). As DSS evolved from a wholesaler to a third party logistics provider, Len oversaw the reengineering of the WMS to accommodate the diverse logistical needs of multiple clients. Promoted to Vice President in 1997 he has over 25 years of experience in distribution and information technology. Prior to joining DSS Len spent 3 years as Manager of Systems Development for Tailored Data, Inc and 7 years as a Programming Analyst and IT manager in the wholesale/distribution industry.

Keith T. Bailey, Vice President, Warehouse Operations

Keith started his tenure with DSS in October of 1989 as a Customer Service Manager. Keith has been promoted to various management positions including Senior Client Manager and Operations Manager for DSS. Keith was promoted to Vice President of Warehouse Operations in January of 2001. His is responsible for the overall warehouse operations for all four DSS facilities. Prior to joining DSS, Keith spent ten years in the retail distribution and warehousing industry.
