Strengthening the 3PL Industry Through Connection
In logistics, no company operates in a vacuum. Our industry is built on connections between warehouses and carriers, technology and operations, customers and their consumers, and, just as importantly, logistics professionals learning from one another.
That’s one of the reasons Distribution Alternatives is proud to be an active member of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA).
For DA, IWLA membership is about much more than belonging to an industry organization. It gives our team opportunities to learn, contribute, collaborate, and stay connected with professionals who understand the opportunities and challenges facing third-party logistics providers today.
A Resource Built Specifically for Warehouse Logistics
IWLA represents warehouse-based third-party logistics providers across North America and supports the industry through advocacy, education, networking, and business resources.
That focused prospective matters!
The 3PL warehousing industry continues to evolve as customer expectations change, technology advances, regulations develop, and supply chains become increasingly complex. Staying informed requires more than following industry headlines. It requires access to people who are actively solving the same operational challenges every day.
IWLA creates an environment where those conversations can happen.
Through educational programs, industry events, webinars, councils, Special Interest Groups, and other resources, members can exchange ideas, discuss emerging issues, and learn from experienced warehouse logistics professionals.
An Active Voice in the 3PL Community
We believe the greatest value of an industry association comes from participating in it.
Several members of the Distribution Alternatives team are actively involved in IWLA Special Interest Groups, where logistics professionals with similar responsibilities meet to discuss real-world challenges, share best practices, and learn from one another.
Our team members also participate in and lead industry panels, creating opportunities to both share DA’s experience and hear different perspectives from warehouse and logistics professionals across the country.
We are also proud to share that we have representation within the newly established, IWLA Women of Warehousing Council. This network is a part of IWLA’s broader network of specialized groups that bring members together around important areas of the warehousing industry.
These opportunities give our people a chance to contribute to the industry while continuing to grow professionally. We are grateful for the relationships, expertise, and resources we gain in return.
Why Industry Collaboration Matters More Than Ever
Today’s logistics ecosystem moves quickly. ECommerce growth, changing retail requirements, labor challenges, transportation capacity, technology, compliance, and shifting customer expectations all influence how 3PL providers operate.
No single organization has every answer.
Being part of an association like IWLA gives logistics professionals a trusted community where they can compare experiences, ask questions, and better understand how others are approaching industry challenges.
IWLA Special Interest Groups are a strong example. These groups bring professionals together regularly to work through practical challenges and to identify emerging trends. Those conversations can also help inform future IWLA educational resources and programming.
That exchange of knowledge makes individual companies stronger while helping move the broader warehouse logistics industry forward.
Turning Industry Knowledge into Better 3PL Partnerships
Our participation in IWLA supports something fundamental to how DA approaches logistics: continuous learning.
With over 90 years of experience in the logistics industry, DA has built a foundation of experience while continuing to learn and evolve. Staying connected to organizations like IWLA help us pair that experience with fresh perspectives, emerging best practices, and new ideas from across the 3PL community.
Through our involvement with IWLA, our team has access to warehouse focused education, industry experts, peers, regulatory information, and practical resources that help us stay engaged with what’s occurring in the industry.
That knowledge ultimately strengthens the conversations we have with our clients.
Whether we are developing eCommerce fulfillment program, supporting retail distribution, managing inventory across multiple warehouses, or coordinating transportation, depend on DA to understand both their immediate logistics needs and the larger environment in which their supply chains operate.
